Why We’re Building Serena: An AI Copilot for Course Creators

Learning changes everything. It shapes careers, opens doors, and fuels new ideas. But turning expertise into a structured, engaging learning experience? That’s where things get tricky.
If you’ve ever stared at a blank page, wondering how to organize your knowledge into something clear and compelling, you’re not alone. Whether it’s a course, a workshop, or professional training, structuring knowledge in a way that helps people absorb, apply, and retain it is harder than it looks.
Even experienced educators and course creators run into the same roadblocks:
- Starting feels impossible. Even experts get stuck staring at a blank page, unsure where to begin.
- Making it flow. You know what you want to teach, but organizing concepts so they build naturally and keep learners engaged is a challenge.
- Keeping up. Knowledge evolves fast, but updating courses takes hours—sometimes days—of work.
Designing effective learning materials takes time and effort. Too often, educators and course creators find themselves caught up in tedious structuring, formatting, and revisions—rather than focusing on what truly matters: engaging learners. We believe this process should be smoother, more guided, and tailored to your needs.
Meet Serena: Your AI-Powered Thinking Partner for Learning Design
That’s why we’re building Serena—an AI co-pilot designed to help you organize, structure, and refine knowledge into meaningful learning experiences.
Serena isn’t just another AI writing tool—it’s your thinking partner for learning design. Whether you’re starting from scratch or refining an existing course, Serena helps you focus on teaching, sharing, and improving knowledge—rather than struggling with formatting and structure.
Why I’m Tackling This Challenge
I’ve spent my career at the crossroads of product management and entrepreneurship, building teams and launching startups like Stamplay (acquired by Claris, a subsidiary of Apple) and Instathings (acquired in 2021). What drives me isn’t just building products—it’s making complex things feel simple. Whether through automation, AI, or intuitive user experiences, my goal has always been to create tools that empower people by removing friction and making their work easier.
Over the past few years, I’ve helped build and lead product teams as a temporary manager at companies like Paginemediche and Translated:
At Paginemediche, I led the creation of a digital health platform, defining the product vision, roadmap, and assembling a top-tier product and design team.
At Translated, I developed TranslationOS, a platform that helps enterprise clients streamline localization and integrate machine translation effectively.
But my experience isn’t just in tech—I’ve spent years teaching. At Roma Tre University, I introduced nearly 1,000 students to digital entrepreneurship, helping them navigate uncertainty, validate ideas, and build sustainable ventures.
Beyond academia, I’ve designed corporate training programs and worked with business schools and accelerators to teach:
- Innovation frameworks for product and business development
- Design Thinking to create user-centered solutions
- Lean Startup to reduce risk in launching new ventures
Through all these experiences, one thing remained constant: creating a structured learning experience takes time and effort. And that’s exactly why we’re building Serena.
Co-Designing Serena, Together
The best courses don’t happen in isolation—they evolve with feedback and collaboration. We believe Serena should be built the same way. That’s why we’re building it together, with you.
Here’s how:
We’re building with real users, not just for them. Every educator, trainer, and course creator has different needs. Instead of making assumptions, we’re involving people who design learning experiences from day one.
Learning design is iterative. Just like great courses evolve with student feedback, Serena should evolve with your insights to truly solve real problems.
Serena isn’t just software—it’s a space. A place where instructional designers, educators, and course creators come together to share ideas, collaborate, and explore how AI can help us all teach and learn better.
